Firefox 11 (Aurora) Beta

If you’re following our blog we’ve covered Mozilla added support to import Chrome data such as bookmarks, settings, Cookies into Firefox 11 nightly build, you can find this options in Firefox import wizard, now Firefox 11 Aurora has been released with Chrome Migration, SPDY support and other features.

Google’s SPDY protocol has been added to this release, but disabled by default which aimed to reduce latency of pages. You can test this feature by setting “network.http.spdy.enabled” preference value to true.

What’s new in Firefox 11 Aurora

  1. Firefox can now migrate your bookmarks, history, and cookies from Google Chrome
  2. The CSS text-size-adjust property is now supported
  3. Windows: An OS security dialog should no longer come up when updating
  4. View source syntax highlighting now uses the HTML5 parser (see bug 482921)
  5. The outerHTML property is now supported on HTML elements
  6. The Style Editor for CSS editing is now available to web developers
  7. Web developers can now visualize a web page in 3D using Tilt
  8. SPDY protocol support for faster page loads is now testable
  9. XMLHttpRequest now supports HTML parsing
  10. Files can now be stored in IndexedDB (see bug 661877)
  11. Websockets has now been unprefixed
  12. Redesigned media controls for HTML5 video
  13. Firefox notifications may not work properly with Growl 1.3 or later (see 691662)
