To use Windows Live Photo Gallery online, sign in to your Windows Live account. If you don't have your own Windows Live account, go to http://windowslive.com and sign up. Windows Live is free, it's easy, and it's a convenient place online not only to store and share photos but also to share files, store and share documents, read and send email, and check in on what's new with your social network.
First things first: Upload your photos
Need to know how to upload photos? If you have pictures to upload, you can use Windows Live Photo Gallery or the tools in the Windows operating system to transfer them to your computer easily.
One of the advantages of downloading Windows Live Photo Gallery to your computer—in addition to the great photo organizing and editing tools it gives you—is that it makes importing photos from any source as fast as a few clicks. Just connect your device, turn it on, open Photo Gallery, and click Import. In the Import photos and video window, select the device you want to upload your pictures from, and click Import. It’s that easy.
You can also use Windows to transfer photos from your camera to your computer in seconds. Just plug your camera cable into a USB port on your computer (and the other end of the cable into your camera), turn your camera on, and then, in the dialog box that appears, click Import pictures and videos using Windows
(Windows 7) or Import using Windows (Windows Vista). Windows copies the images into your My pictures folder (or any folder you specify), and they’re ready to use. Here’s more help on how to upload a picture from your camera to your computer using Windows:

Choose a topic for your online photo album
What makes a good photo album? Just about anything—any topic, person, place, or event that you want to share. You might create a photo album about the weekend when you took your son camping. Maybe you want to showcase your handmade jewelry or share your latest genealogical finds.
Whatever the topic of the album, the idea is to group photos in such a way that the people viewing them will understand how they're connected and to then pick a title that emphasizes the theme, for example “My Roses, Summer 2011,” “Building a Kayak,” or “Cars I Have Loved.”
Create an online photo album
Here’s how to create an album and add photos to it:

Sign in to Windows Live with your Windows Live ID. (If you do not already have an account, create one for free.)

Click Photos, and then click Create album.

In the Name box, type the name of your album.

In the Share with box, set permissions for those whom you would like to see your album. The default choice is Everyone. Your online albums are public—everyone can see them. To specify other permissions, click Change. You can choose to share them just with the friends in your Windows Live network, select specific people, or keep them for yourself. If you change your mind later about whom to share an album with, you can easily edit these permissions on your album’s page. Click Next. The Add photos to new album page appears.

There are several ways to create your photo album.
To browse for a picture anywhere on your computer, click Select Photos from your computer.

Drag a picture—from anywhere on your computer—into the Drop photos here box. It’s easier to drag the photos you want if you click the Restore down button to reduce the size of the Windows Live window, move it to one side of your screen, and then open your photo folder. That way, both windows appear side by side on your screen.
Make your windows smaller so you can easily drag photos from one window to another.
As soon as you add a photo, the name of the box disappears. To add another photo, drag it into the box with your other photos. You can also add more photos from your computer: Click Select more photos from your computer.
It takes only seconds to drag photos into place to create a new album.
Want to upload or add photos from another source to an online photo album? No problem. Here’s how:

Upload photos from a digital camera, memory card, CD, or DVD.

After you've added your pictures, click Continue, and that's it! Your album is ready to share.
If you want to add more photos to the online album later, sign in to the Windows Live site, click the album, click Add photos, and use this same process to drop (or browse for) more images.
Share your album
After you're done, share your work. Near the top of your new album’s page, click Let people know and then enter the email addresses of the people to whom you want to send a link. That way they’ll know it’s available and they’ll be able to access it right away.
If, at any time, you want to change the permissions for sharing your album, on the album page, click Share, and then click Edit permissions. After you’ve changed the permission level and added or deleted email addresses, click Save.
Note: Permissions are granted only to view your album, not to edit your photos or your album in any way.
You and those to whom you've given permission can choose to view your album as thumbnails or as a slide show.
